Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
This position is a unique and rewarding opportunity to shape young minds during one of their most formative developmental stages. As a Toddler Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and each child's individuality is respected. The Part-Time Licensed Childcare Assistant Teacher will work with the Toddler program operations and the preschool's daily operations, working in compliance with State Licensing Regulations, and State Health Department Regulations to create a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This role involves assisting the Lead Teacher with curriculum administration, Teaching preschool or Toddler care, and engaging with parents and the community.
Assistant Toddler Teacher Responsibilities & Duties
- Helping implement engaging lesson plans and activities
- Monitoring the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Developing social skills through structured play and interaction
- Communicating with parents and caregivers about their child's progress
- Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
- Observing and documenting children's developmental milestones
- Providing individualized attention to address each child's unique needs
- Encouraging positive behavior and social interactions among children
- Collaborating with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational program
- Ability to assist with care giving duties such as diaper changing, clothing assistance and toileting
- Facilitating age-appropriate learning experiences that promote cognitive and language development
Requirements
Job Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old
- Familiarity with child development theories and practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Understanding of state and local education regulations
- Creative problem-solving abilities
- Passion for early childhood education
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to engage young children in learning activities
- Patience and empathy
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping
- Background check clearance
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a childcare setting
- Previous experience working with toddlers
- Experience with classroom management techniques
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field/Or a Level 2 PDIS
Work Environment
- Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.
- Noise levels range from moderate to loud, often due to active children, group interactions, or busy transportation settings.
Physical Activities:
- Physical stamina to keep up with active toddlers
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
