Company History

The YMCA of Northern Colorado was founded in 1874. Our Association has continued growing through the years to serve the expanding population in Northern Colorado: The Boulder Y branch opened in 1966; the Longmont Y began programming in 1969; and the Lafayette Y branch opened in 1998. In June 2020, we opened our fourth branch, the Johnstown Community YMCA in Johnstown, CO; and in 2022, we acquired the Cheyenne, WY branch. In 2022, the Thompson School District, in Loveland, CO, overwhelmingly voted to turn Mary Blair Elementary School into the newest Y branch to serve one of the fastest growing communities in Colorado. We also operate a residential summer camp – Camp Santa Maria – in Bailey, CO.
